Navigating a Major App Upgrade and Design Revamp: A Success Story

In the ever-evolving landscape of mobile apps, staying updated with the latest versions and understanding customer behaviour are crucial for maintaining competitiveness and improving end-user experience. Recently, we at Monocept faced a dual challenge from one of our clients: upgrading their applications from version 9 to 16 and integrating Google Analytics (GA) so that they will have visibility to their data across platforms and a deeper understanding of our users’ full journeys.

The Challenge

Our client required a seamless upgrade of their applications from version 9 to 16 without affecting the existing functionality. Additionally, a complete revamp of the user interface (UI) design was needed. This comprehensive upgrade had to be executed under tight deadlines, ensuring the current work and deliverables were not disrupted.

Moreover, they wanted to implement Google Analytics events to obtain and analyse various customer behaviour metrics. This data would be crucial in identifying drop-off points in the customer journey, attracting more traffic, and retaining existing customers.

The Monocept Solution

To address the version upgrade, we developed a meticulous migration plan. This plan included an end-to-end analysis of all existing dependencies across the project to mitigate any risk of breaking the application flow. We initially migrated a few apps to assess the overall impact and replicated this process across all other apps. This careful and systematic approach ensured the upgrade did not disrupt ongoing work and adhered to sprint commitments.

Simultaneously, we implemented GA events to gain insights into the customer funnel. Through this analysis, we discovered specific screens where users were dropping off. We revamped the UI design to counteract this, highlighting the product’s benefits and making the interface more engaging and intuitive. This design revamp aimed to guide customers seamlessly through their journey, enhancing their experience and encouraging them to complete their transactions.

The Result

The successful upgrade to version 16 ensured compatibility with other applications, enabled implementing the latest features, and included essential security patches. This protected data and maximized the overall performance of the applications, ensuring they were robust and efficient.

The UI design revamp, driven by insights from GA events, significantly improved user engagement. We made the application more attractive and user-friendly by addressing the pain points identified in the customer journey. This not only retained existing customers but also attracted new ones, as the improved design effectively showcased the product’s features and benefits.
